AFL: Sydney Swans v Adelaide Crows

It has been a while but the Sydney Swans finally get a crack at redemption after the Adelaide Crows lowered their flag at the SCG in the early stages of season 2018.

The rivalry between these two powerhouse AFL clubs has always generated significant spite with the Crows reserving a special effort for their annual visit to the harbour city.

Last season’s Round 5 match-up went the way of Adelaide 85-75 after the visitors midfield dominated early possession and Sydney battled to claw their way back.

"We just got well beaten in the middle of the ground and they were better at winning the contests than us," Swans coach John Longmire said at the time.

The Swans are eager to reverse the ledger in this big Friday night clash, and will be counting on a combination of youthful exuberance and the collective experience within their finely balanced roster to get the job done.

Rising stars Oliver Florent, Matthew Ling and Darcy Cameron will be let loose under the watchful eye of old-time campaigners Jarrod McVeigh, Josh Kennedy and Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin.

Taylor Walker and Rory Sloane have been handed the co-captaincy duties for Adelaide this season and the club is making every match personal after a disappointing end to the 2018 campaign which saw them fall away and not contest the finals.
